Konda Mason is the Co-Founder and CEO of Impact Hub Oakland, a beautiful inspiring co-working space supporting and connecting socially engaged changemakers and social entrepreneurs in creating community and bringing their projects to life as they create a better world. Her love for the city of Oakland is the driver for the work she brings to that community.
Konda began her career in the entertainment industry as a Grammy winning artist manager in London, an Academy Award nominated film producer in Hollywood, and an Off Off Broadway theater producer in New York.
Turning her attention to sustainable personal and global living solutions, Konda partnered with actor Woody Harrelson and his wife Laura Louie and founded Yoganics, an organic food business in Los Angeles, where she successfully brought to market the first organic produce section in a major grocery store in the LA area. Combining her filmmaking skills with her passion to change the course on climate change, Konda is most proud of leading a media team to help successfully stop a coal-fired power plant from being constructed in Borneo, Malaysia. Additionally, Konda leads ecotourism trips to the Amazon rainforest of Ecuador as a way of submerging people from the global north into the realities of indigenous culture while witnessing the importance of this vital ecosystem. Konda will be co-leading a special trip for changemakers in August 2015.
Konda is a facilitator trainer for The Pachamama Alliance, and from 2013-2014 was the host for their online Thought Leader Speaker Series. She is a certified Kripalu yoga instructor, teaching primarily at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Woodacre, CA, where she is in a 3-year Community Dharma Leadership program, with Jack Kornfield and Sylvia Boorstein as her personal mentors. She has been a panelist, keynote, or moderator at SOCAP, Social Venture Network, Permaculture Convergence, Bioneers, SVI, SF Greenfest, the Shift Network, Wisdom 2.0 and more.
Konda uses permaculture design principles, sustainable business practices, yoga, storytelling, Buddhist theory and Integral theory…through a lens of social justice, to inform her work.
